Sync your recipes across all your devices — phone, tablet, desktop. Optional cloud backup keeps your data safe even if you lose a device.
Sync is Optional
By default, Honest Recipes works entirely offline with local storage. Sync is an opt-in feature that requires creating an account:
- →Without sync: recipes stay on one device only
- →With sync: recipes appear on all devices where you're signed in
How Sync Works
When sync is enabled, your recipes are automatically backed up to the cloud via Supabase:
- 1.You save a recipe on Device A (e.g. your phone)
- 2.Honest Recipes syncs it to Supabase cloud storage
- 3.Device B (e.g. your desktop) fetches the updated recipe automatically
Sync happens in the background — you don't need to manually trigger it.
Setting Up Sync
- 1.Go to Settings
- 2.Tap “Sign In” or “Create Account”
- 3.Enter your email and password (or use magic link sign-in)
- 4.Toggle “Enable Sync” to ON
- 5.Your recipes will start syncing to the cloud
On other devices, sign in with the same account to access your synced recipes.
Conflict Resolution
What happens if you edit the same recipe on two devices before syncing?
- →Last write wins: The most recent edit is kept
- →Conflicts are rare since sync happens automatically in the background
- →If you notice missing edits, check Settings → Sync for status
Privacy & Security
- →Encrypted in transit: All synced data uses HTTPS encryption
- →Tied to your account: Only you can access your synced recipes
- →Turn off anytime: Disable sync in Settings to stop cloud backups
- →Data stored on Supabase servers (SOC 2 compliant)
Managing Sync Settings
- →Check sync status: Go to Settings → Sync to see last sync time
- →Manual sync: Tap “Sync Now” to force an immediate sync
- →Disable sync: Toggle sync OFF to stop cloud backups (local data remains)
- →Sign out: Removes synced recipes from the device (still stored in cloud)
