Sharing Recipes

Share your favorite recipes with friends and family, or publish entire collections as beautiful cookbooks. Your data stays private by default — you choose what to share.

Creating a Public Share Link

  1. 1.Open the recipe you want to share
  2. 2.Tap the Share button
  3. 3.Choose “Create public link”
  4. 4.Copy the link (format: honest.recipes/r/[slug]) and share it anywhere

The link is public and can be viewed by anyone, even without an Honest Recipes account.

Social Preview Cards

When you share a recipe link, social platforms (Twitter, Facebook, iMessage, etc.) automatically generate a rich preview card with:

  • Recipe title and description
  • Recipe photo (if you added one)
  • Cook time, servings, and other key details

Open Graph (OG) tags are auto-generated for each shared recipe, so links look great everywhere.

What Recipients See

When someone opens your shared recipe link, they'll see:

  • The full recipe: ingredients, instructions, photos, and notes
  • A clean, ad-free view (the Honest Recipes experience)
  • An “Import to my library” button if they have an account
  • A prompt to try Honest Recipes if they don't have an account yet

Collecting Feedback on Shared Recipes

Pro feature: Enable feedback to let viewers leave notes, tips, and variations on your shared recipes.

Enabling feedback when sharing:

  1. 1.Open the recipe and tap the Share button
  2. 2.Check “Allow feedback” before creating the link
  3. 3.Copy and share the link

How viewers leave feedback:

When someone visits your shared recipe, they'll see a “Notes” section at the bottom where they can:

  • Enter their name (optional, defaults to “Anonymous”)
  • Write a note or comment (up to 500 characters)
  • Submit their feedback publicly

Managing feedback:

  • View all feedback in the recipe's share settings
  • Delete individual notes if needed
  • Toggle feedback on/off anytime without breaking the share link

Privacy: Feedback is tied to a viewer hash, not personal information. No email addresses or tracking data are collected.

Publishing Recipe Collections as Cookbooks

Turn any collection into a shareable cookbook with its own public page:

  1. 1.Open a collection you want to publish
  2. 2.Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and select “Publish as Cookbook”
  3. 3.Share the cookbook link (format: honest.recipes/cookbook/[slug])

Perfect for sharing your “Holiday Desserts” collection with family or publishing a meal prep guide.

Privacy & Control

  • Private by default: Only recipes you explicitly share become public
  • Unshare anytime: Revoke public access by deleting the share link
  • No tracking: Shared recipes don't collect analytics or track viewers
  • Everything else in your library stays completely private
