Digitize your cookbook collection or grandma's handwritten recipe cards. AI reads the photo and extracts a structured recipe — no manual typing needed.
How It Works
- 1.Go to Import → Photo
- 2.Take a photo of a cookbook page, recipe card, or handwritten recipe
- 3.AI automatically extracts the title, ingredients, and instructions
- 4.Review and edit the extracted recipe, then tap Save
Works with printed cookbook pages, magazine clippings, handwritten notes, and recipe cards.
Tips for Best Results
Get more accurate extractions by following these tips:
- →Good lighting: Natural light or bright indoor lighting works best
- →Flat page: Lay the cookbook or card flat to avoid curved text
- →Clear text: Make sure the text is in focus — no blurry edges
- →Avoid shadows: Position your phone so it doesn't cast a shadow over the text
- →Frame the recipe: Include the full recipe in the photo, but crop out extra pages or distractions
Reviewing & Editing
AI extraction is good, but not perfect. Always review the results before saving:
- →Check ingredient quantities and units for accuracy
- →Fix any OCR errors (e.g. “1/4” read as “1/a”)
- →Add missing cook time, servings, or other metadata if needed
- →Edit the recipe using the built-in editor before saving
The AI does most of the work — you just need to verify and tweak.
Pro Feature & Limits
- →Free plan: 5 photo scans per month
- →Pro plan: Unlimited photo scans
- →Pro costs $1.99/month or $14.99/year — also unlocks unlimited recipes and cloud sync
Other Ways to Import
Photo scanning is great for physical recipes, but for online recipes, use:
- →URL import: Paste any recipe link — faster and more accurate for web recipes
- →Text paste: Copy/paste recipe text from emails, PDFs, or messages
